How can I fix my ceiling fan so it doesn't make noise?

    Sometimes the reason they make noise is simply because its a bit off balance. I would remove the blades and thoroughly clean the entire thing, that might just do it.

    Tape coins on tops of blades to balance the fan. You can buy kits for this as well. Move the coins around until there's no more noise from the fan, then superglue them in place.

      Yes, money change or coins. Washers from a hardware store might also work but with coins you've got it readily available and once you determine which fan blade is the 'sweet spot' you can add a variety of weight just by using different coins. If a quarter isn't enough, add a nickel or try a dime. You'll eventually get the blades balanced. Of course, I'm assuming the noise is from the blades and not the motor.
