How can I make over wainscoting without removing it?
Wainscoting, (pecan colored wood) is on the bottom half of the walls in a bedroom. I need ideas, short of removing it, to update it.

Paint it white, along with all of your trim. Paint the upper walls a color to match décor.
Hello Lisa! You can paint your wainscoting. You might have to give it a light sanding and use a primer first before your paint (a stand alone primer NOT a paint with primer in it) and then paint the color of your choice with regular wall paint. A separate primer for this job is the way to go!
Do you have a photo you could share here? That would help for ideas!
Paint it. Clean with TSP, prime with Kilz Original, then paint.
For a more modern look. You can paint it all one color. Here are some ideas from Pintrest.
