How can we decorate around these tiles?

Hello Bernadette! I don't know if you plan on removing wallpaper but just taking off the wallpaper will help. I think it looks too busy with both the floor and the wallpaper right now and you might also consider painting the door a solid color. You can also find a solid color entry rug to cover part of the tile. I would not go with a pattern. I think you can make it all work easily!

I have very close/similar tiles. I went with a Mediterranean style. I agree with removing the wall paper. Stay away from any colors in the tile. You want to draw the eye away from them Use colors that are neutrals and direct opposite. I painted my walls a medium olive. Terracotta for accents.

Don’t touch the floor. Too expensive anyway. Get rid of the wall paper. Paint the walls and maybe the closet door too. You can tone down the brown on the front door. Best wishes.

I'm someone who also hates brown or any lighter (beiger) shade of it lol! My tiles go throughout the entire house in FLaDuh and are cream with brown flecks. I totally IGNORED the tile colors when choosing my own wall paints. Doing so does, As William said, make them completely recede into the background and the tile just reads neutral. I suggest you decorate as you feel most pleased and ignore the tiles. If they bother you afterward, it's only paint or a future tile replacement project.

Remove wallpaper with this method:

Peel as much as possible from the walls.

If you can't get to the backing, you may need to score the paper with a tool. Paper Tiger is easy to find. Light pressure because you don't want to damage the wall behind the paper.

Mix 50/50 fabric softener & warm water in a spray bottle or garden sprayer. I've read that vinegar is as effective but I have never used it.

Allow the mixture to sit for 5 - 10 minutes so that it saturates the adhesive on the paper backing.

Scrape with a plastic scraper.

Once it is all removed, wash the walls with warm soapy water (blue Dawn is my go-to) and a microfiber cloth.

Then paint with a neutral or contrasting accent color. I'm partial to blue and would probably go with something like that for an accent. Paint the trim and either paint or replace the closet doors. I love that front door!

I would say paint your walls solid color so it doesn't compete with floor pattern. It will be much easier to decorate

I know you mentioned neutral wall colors and of course if that is what you like go for it, but may I suggest going in a different direction? Consider playing off the browns in your trim, doors, and floor by using a beautiful aqua on the walls. I have included a link to shades that would look stunning against your gorgeous floor.
