Wear protective clothing and goggles. Using a chisel and hammer, tap them at the grout lines to remove. They will probably break. Slow and easy to remove without damage to the wall behind them.

Removing tiles is one part. The other important part is removing all the mortar residue that will still be on the wall after the tiles have come off.

This can be messy and slow going.

Unfortunately, removal, even if done carefully, usually results in some need to repair the damage caused to the drywall in the process. The extent of the damage will depend on how well the tiles have been installed, and what substance was used to adhere them to the wall.

It is sometimes faster and more cost effective to simply cut out all the damaged drywall, and install new, before applying the new wall covering.

    Hi,

Use a Paint Scraper behind the tile, and chisel away! You'll soon get the hang of it.
