Clean gaskets. Run the cleaning cycle with either bleach or machine cleaner. Then run a second cycle without anything to remove any residue. Leave door open.
Never latch the door closed when it's not being used. I reach in the gasket groove around the front and remove the wet lint and hair from it. Then i wipe up the water that may be lying in the groves with a towel that I then wash. I've had my front loader for 6 years and no musty smell. Most important is leaving that door open.
Every time I clean my mirrors, they end up having tons of streaks and almost look worse than before I started. What could I use to clean them that won't leave streaks...

I leave a small hand towel in between the door and the machine! When the machine is not in use!
