If you are in Canada, yes, the price of a gallon of good quality brand name exterior paint such as Benjamin Moore can be $100.
More like $100 for 5 gallons. Don't hire him. Get at least three estimates. You can even get referrals from Home Depot and Menard's.

Sounds like he's going to paint his families farm buildings with your paint. 5 gallons would probably be closer to what you need. Good paint is less than 50 dollars a gallon. This guy wants to retire young in my estimation. Get another painter to give you a quote.
If you have a Sherwin Williams store in your area check out the cost of their exterior paint. I used their Duration paint 11 years ago and my exterior still looks like new with very little fading. No bubbling and no peeling. This paint is supposed to last 25 years before you have to paint again.
