What are typical costs in the UK to build a kitchen extension?
I am in the process of getting quotes and would love to hear from anyone with experience of extending their kitchens, why you did it, costs and pitfalls. Thanks in advance.

Hi Stephen,
If you don't find anyone on Hometalk who has remodeled a kitchen in the UK, my advice is to have at least 3 contractors evaluate your project and give you a quote. Be sure that the quote specifies all materials and exactly what they will do, including clean up. Another thing you can do is to join NextDoor.co.uk . NextDoor is a global network that brings you in touch with your neighborhoods. I belong to my local NextDoor and people are always asking for recommendations for various projects that they need done. Your neighbors will know who is the best in your specific area. I hope this helps you. Wishing you the best. Here's a little tidbit about NextDoor.co.uk

I also recommend next door for advice. In the states in most places it would be 50K for a tear down and rebuild kitchen.
Ok thanks. So including that site, I am checking these as they have guides. Had some quotes, a couple outrageous, another is fine.

Any others you know of? Googling brings up checkatrade and ratedpeople. I have friends with bad experiences on there so avoiding.
Posting on NextDoor shortly, thanks for that.
Although this is US based, the principles are still the same. Here is how to hire any contractor you will ever need.
