Grommet Tab Curtain Fix
I finally gave in and purchased grommet top curtains for my living room a while back but was constantly adjusting them as they ended up squished or unevenly spaced on the rod. I am not a perfectionist but when I spend money on something I want it to look nice and curtains that wouldn't stay put drove me nuts!
How can I keep them evenly spaced; from being pushed flat? My solution was to purchase a pool noodle for $1 at the Dollar Store! I have used pool noodles for many things around the home and I was sure this could be my solution.
Try to get a noodle that is similar in color to your curtains or your rods. If that is not an option (as in my case) you can always paint the pieces that may show. I removed the sticker.
Next, I cut the noodle down the center, lengthwise to easily slip onto the rod when I am done.
Next, I cut my pieces into 2 inch sections. For each rod I need 8 pieces. I ended up using 2 noodles for my living room. I have 5 windows in the living room.
These little cuffs were so easy to apply. I simply slipped the sections behind each fold on the rod.
So much better! Don't you think? Evenly spaced and nothing flat or squished!
Who knew that for the price of a dollar I could be so happy?! After I finished this easy little project I realized I could have probably done the same thing with empty paper towel rolls.

Here in England we do ours for free with the cardboard inners from toilet rolls. Do the same as in this idea with the pool noodle but for free. They work briliantly at no cost.

Aren’t pool noodles just the greatest? I use them for so many different things but unfortunately, here in Tennessee they are not sold year round. I have used this same method for years using paper towel rolls or toilet paper rolls. My mother-in-law told me about this one because she is a perfectionist like me! Lol. For those who want to try them but worry about their stability, you can cover them with strong tape (even masking tape works well) or coat them with a layer of glue. But hey, if you don’t want to do that, just remember that they are free and readily available so just cut some more and replace!! After seeing your pool noodle hack, I think it is brilliant! Same for those who suggested pipe insulation. If I ever have to replace mine, I’ll definitely give your idea a go! I have learned to buy extra pool noodles before the end of summer every year because I find so many different ways to use them and certainly don’t want to have to wait until Spring to get them. Especially if using for Christmas decorating!!

We don't have them here year round, either. I do try to keep some extra on hand. I can find them at the dollar store during the summer. I use them to fill my boots, on hangers to keep pants from creasing weirdly, ect.

Great idea!
I tried paper towel rolls and they tried to poke thru the grommet holes. I think pool noodles would be better. Thanks
Looks nice open but when you close them will they go all the way shut?
