I usually wash my lettuce and let it drip and dry in a colander in my sink. I put a dry paper towel in my container and then a damp paper towel over the top of the lettuce. I cover the container with a lid or saran wrap. If you use up your lettuce in a day or two this works great. Nice and crisp. You may have to change the paper towels if it is any longer.
I let my lettuce dry out on a microfiber cloth when I get home. I then put it in a gallon zip lock bag with a paper towel. Last for up to a week.
I swear by my old tupperware lettuce bowl..... that has 3 prongs to keep the bottom from touching, The Lettuce Crisper is the closest to it.... https://www.amazon.com/Lettuce-Crisper-Keeper-Container-Vegetables/dp/B0713TXVBW/ref=sr_1_9?crid=11BX1I1RYZAZT&keywords=lettuce+storage+container+for+refrigerator&qid=1568314020&sprefix=lettuce+storage+%2Caps%2C229&sr=8-9
Wrap it in a bunch of paper towel
Cut with a plastic lettuce knife so the cut edges don't turn rusty. Metal (knives, aluminum foil, etc.), don't mix. If you don't have a Tupperware lettuce keeper, place in a zip lock plastic bag and suck out all the air. Insert a straw when allmost closed and suck the air out like shrink wrap. Will make your lettuce last longer. I go through a head of lettuce in 4 days or less.
