We stick ours in an old ankle sock and use them "combined" in the shower. The sock also doubles as a wash rag. The slivers get used in an easy, no nonsense way. Also, my friend puts them in a cup with water to soften them and used them in her washer.

It seems I remember someone telling me to put them in a small metal can, add water and put on stovetop to melt together. I think I used a sardine can.

We put the slivers in an old pair of pantyhose legs and tie it to the outside faucet.
