Robbie, I am so sorry for your loss! Since you will see or feel your husband in everything you own, and you can't keep everything, I suggest that you do 2 things: First, fill a keepsake book or box with momentos and photos of milestone events you shared so you can look through it whenever you need to. Next, I would dedicate a space in your home to honor him, where you can sit and reflect on your time with him. It can be as simple as a chair in a corner filled with items that remind you of him or a space in your garden where you can put in a bench and stepping stone with his name on it.

I understand what you are asking. I lost my dad last month. Did your husband have any hobbies or things he was proud of?

I ask that because my dad was into carving and I have displayed some of his work in our front room on the shelves. He also collected very old fiddlers. I found the two that were his favorites and cleaned them up and am going to mount them on the wall. Of course I have pictures but wanted to take what he loved and put that in my house in his honor. I also incorporated a few metal pieces on the wall after painting them.

I didn't want pictures that would sit in a photo album that might get looked at every year or so. These other items are in the living room to be enjoyed everyday. Don't take me wrong pictures are wonderful but I wanted my dad to be part of our everyday life.

    Just my own opinion.

Keep him in your heart and soon you will get a smile on your face instead of a tear in your eye when you thing of him. Good bless you.

A friend of mine made a small quilt out of several of her loved one's shirts. He loved plaid shirts so those were used. She uses it as a lap robe for when she's a bit cold. Functional and sentimental too. If there are favorite T-shirts, or similar things that can be made into other items. Really weird suggestion, but depending on hobbies, you may be able to save some small tools and use them as cabinet hardware, just think outside the box. Maybe if he had several watches throughout the years, those could be displayed in a certain area.

I have a single rose (from Mom's funeral) that was dried and put under glass. I have some of her ashes that I put in epoxy stone and placed that under the glass with the rose.
