”making over” means what to you? Painting it?
Or do you mean R&R? Remove & Replace?
When cutting into or replacing bits & pieces of siding, it is absolutely essential to look for & address termites, mold & water deflection. Flashing will be critical.
Do you mean replacing the siding? For another kind or just because yours needs work? Here is a picture of replacing clapboard siding on our house. Our house has shingles on the top floor and clapboards on the lower floor. Clapboards are very common here as are brick or stone house or shingled houses. Vinyl would be my last choice.
