How can I clean urine residue from woodgrain-style laminate flooring?

I have three small dogs. Two are rescue, one is a senior dog (12). I'll skip a lot of details and just say that I clean up a lot of puddles, I use the recommended cleaners with enzymes and odor-neutralizers, etc. My vinyl flooring is made to simulate plank flooring, so it has a "grain" to it, and I am not getting all the urine out every time. I have lingering odors. My question is, can a carpet/tile cleaning company deep/steam clean my vinyl flooring without the heat loosening the underlying adhesive layer? It really needs a deep cleaning, more than I can effectively do, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this done to their sheet vinyl flooring?

I would call a reputable floor cleaning company.

Have you scrubbed with a scrub brush and sudsy ammonia, or one of the newer steamers you can buy?

  • Hi, Melanie!

A floor cleaning company should be able to give advice on what to do. I would also suggest using a product like Spray Nine (I found it at Home Depot) that will kill any bacteria and odors that are still present in the flooring. I hope this helps!

As mentioned in my question post, Im not sure if a steamer is safe on vinyl (paste underneath). Ammonia doesn't neutralize urine, urine has ammonia qualities of its own already. I'll just call the pros, was just hoping someone could share their own experience if they had a floor cleaning company address this issue for them re: vinyl flooring. Thank you all! (never heard of Spray Nine, will look for it!)
