How do I tighten the slats on my plantation shutters?

One of the shutters in our house has loose slats -- they won't stay open. (I have the same problem with one of the AC vents in my car.) is there a way to adjust them or tighten them?

a lot of time this is due to the shutter loosening up at the rail / style connection. a small screw set in each corner pulls the rail back in.

The people that made your shutters should have given you a :"key" that fits inside a small hole to adjust, tighten or loosen them up. it looks simular to a fireplace gas key, hope this helps :)

@Kat =^.^= can you tell me the name of the manufacturer tha provides those "keys". I really need to get one and cannot find so far and I have called several shutter manufacturers and they do not seem to know what I am talking about. i guess most of them just make it so you can use a screwdriver. NOt mine...
