If you are looking to build a gallery wall to add the decor to your blank walls, begin with the larger pictures and move out from there surrounding the larger pictures with the smaller ones.

Get plain brown wrapping paper and trace each picture frame onto it. Cut out each one. Use small pieces of double stick tape to stick the patterns to the wall. This way you can try different groupings till you get a look you like. Save your patterns for your next remodel by rolling them up in a wrapping paper tube.

We have lots and lots of pictures as my husband is an artist and we buy a lot too. The space you have dictates the arrangements. This corner shows three pastel drawings; two by my husband and an antique one. All the women in the pics are looking to their left. It is the image itself not the size or shape of the frame that should determine the placement of the art. In the next photo are two architectural paintings. These are water color so need to be out of the sun which would "bleach" them.. I thought wider over narrower was the way to go. On our staircase are hung portraits of girls/women. Since this collection was gathered over time, I had to re-hang as needed. Hanging pictures is a very free thing to do, just make sure they are not too high and that they relate to each other. Don't bother with the drawing it out on the floor, that only shows the shape of the frame. Better to lay the pics on the floor and arrange them till you are pleased.
