Does it have a wooden frame or is it frameless?
Actually it looks as if it was once mounted on a dresser- i can see 2 marks on the lower back where it was attached to something It’s an old piece probably early French provincial Wood with deco scroll-work but back has only a heavy fiber type board. I guess I’ll have to properly frame it then purchase a French cleat I considered eye hooks and wire but it’s 40 inches wide and just too heavy to trust that
They make special clips for mirrors.
Thanks but it’s too big for clips
Heavy mirrors are best hung with a French Cleat based on the weight of the mirror.... one side of the cleat is mounted to the top of the mirror's frame, then the other side is mounted to wall hopefully onto the studs, or you will have to use anchors for the screws.
this one had diagrams.... https://www.amazon.com/French-Cleat-Hanger-Inch-Whiteboard/dp/B07D6WDKRW/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=french+cleat+for+a+heavy+mirror&qid=1568827616&sr=8-9
Yes that’s what I’ll do and thanks for your time
Yes, go with the French Cleats as Sharon said.
The wall mounted little clear plastic 'mirror' clips are good only for lightweight frameless mirrors.
