How can I stop my new kitten from pooping along baseboards?

old cat refused to use litter box. Had carpet cleaned. New kitten know to use litter but poops along basebaords, I assume where old cat pee was. What can I do to stop this behavior.

Talk to your vet. Try bitter Apple spray. Try the enzyme cleaners to erase previous cats marking.
Go to your local pet store they have products to help you. Cleaning carpets really doesn't take care of it. Urine is in pad and on subfloor.

This is a long shot but sometimes cats don't like a scented litter. Try the cheapest unscented litter you can find. It worked for our cat.
