Hello! You don't mention what kind of stain you have. If it is on the surface of the linoleum you should be able to remove it. Knowing what kind of stain it is can direct you to the right cleaning procedure. If it is something that has soaked into the linoleum you may not be able to remove it.

It has permeated the linoleum and depending on what the stain is, it may never come out.

Oil based stains will never come out and will oxidize darker over time- they will need to be either patched or painted over. The painting is another thread.

If it is water-based, then I can coach you on how to use food grade hydrogen peroxide- but it is caustic and must not be used around people (kids) & pets who could accidentally come into contact with it.

    HI Spiracle,

I also thought of hydrogen peroxide. I'd put a past of baking soda and water on the spot then add the hydrogen peroxide. As long as you don't have little children or pets you can let it sit for an hour or so, checking frequently to make sure it's not dry. Continue to spray on the hydrogen peroxide so that it stays damp while it's working. After an hour or so, wipe it off with clean warm water and a soft cloth. That might work but if it has soaked into the actual linoleum, you'll most likely need to cut it out and repair that spot. It actually might look better over-all to paint a few designs on the clean floor and seal it with several coats of polyacylic or polyurethane. Just remember the polyurethane can yellow over time so it depends on the color of your floor. Wishing you the best.
