How should I make over my steps after removing carpeting?
greetings, im pulling my carpet due to my puppy and older dog who trashed the carpet. Im putting down vinyl planking ( pre stickable) so far looks great. Im moving right along and need some thoughts about the steps . I have 4 steps going ip and 4 going down , the up steps have hand rails , so they are drilled and glued into the wood which happens to be construction grade . My thoughts were to cap the steps with oak but that means i have to trim the wooden Spigots holing the handrail to accommodate the 3/4 inch rise. My other option is strip the carpet, and patch any imperfections with filler and prime and paint then put carpet treads so the dogs dont go flying down due slippage. The flooring is a brown with a wood pattern. Any thoughts? How i can give it a wow factor?( thanks)

Perhaps non slip paint would work for you. That would give you extra traction for the pups and still be painted and not carpeted for easier cleaning.
We painted our steps and used a pretty patterned commercial carpet as a runner.
