How do I restore & care for a grapevine rocker?

Found this in barn at old farmhouse we recently moved into. Would love to restore and put on front porch but don't want to ruin/damage it in the process. Amy advise is greatly appreciated.

I would apply a few coats of Minwax Tung Oil - rejuvenates the wood by moisturizing it which will bring back some of the color and it provides a water resistant coating to the wood as well when at least 2 coats are applied and completely dry. Beautiful chair and I can already see it on your front porch - good luck! I would love to see an after pic if you are able???

what a unique and beautiful piece of furniture. It will look so good with the wood "fed" and shiny!

If you want to keep the original finish then use the Minwax tung oil. It's basically mineral oil with shellac. It soaks into pores, enhances the color and protects the finish. A light sanding with a green kitchen scrubby to remove any flaking. If you choose to paint then seal first with Bullseye Sealcoat. It's a dewaxed shellac that seals the surface. Then you can spray paint wiyh any color you choose. Several light coats of paint will give you a smooth finish.
