We are new to North Carolina and discovering deer like certain plants. I assume it was hungry deer that was munching on my hydrangea. Any ideas on what I can use to encourage them to eat elsewhere ?😉

I used to have trouble with deer eating my hostas. I would buy Irish spring soap bars and shred them in my food process. Sprinkle around plants. Never had another problem. I would shred a bunch of bars at one time and store the extra because you have to repeat every so many weeks especially if hard rain

dog hair or human hair get it from salons or groomers place in wads around the plants; I would not suggest any soap products if you want healthy soil & plants Plants also have a wax covering that is affected by the soap. The plant may not die instantly. But, disintegration of the leaf's outermost layer may result in the loss of water and dehydration of the plant. ... Also, certain plants are very sensitive to soap as well as it kills beneficial bugs and microbes in soil needed for healthy gardens, soil, plants;deer also dislike Rosemary, Peppermint or Lavender so using the 100% pure oil around your garden beds will help deter them will need repeated

Shavings from Irish Spring soap works well.

You can purchase a spray that will keep them out but it smells like rotten eggs.

Go to a discount store and purchase several solar powered walkway lights. Stick them in your plants. That's it! This was told to me many years ago by an old farmer and it has worked for me everytime! I usually have as many as 16 deer in my yard at night and they stay clear of my flowers. I place 1 light in front of each bed.
