Easy would be to go to Hobby Lobby and buy one. To make a box you'll need to cut wood or plywood to the sizes of sides and the bottom. Clamp and glue together and nail with finishing nails. Add a finish or paint as you wish.
I saw a lot of wooden boxes for less then $1 each at my local Salvation Army.

You can glue together some balsa wood though most craft stores will have wood boxes for less than it would cost to make one.
