I bought a used kitchen table that I would like to chalk paint, but I think I bit off more than I can chew! What is the easiest way to do this, what paint is best and how do I keep it from rubbing off? Thanks in advance for your help!

Chalk paint adheres to most surfaces. If the table is in really rough shape, you may need to prime it. You should not need to prime it.

To paint it, simply choose a quality chalk paint and sealer like this one.

    Primer: https://amzn.to/2ms0m84

    Chalk Paint: https://amzn.to/2nt5E34

    Sealer Wax: https://amzn.to/2o8oOM6

I would strongly recommend Rustoleum brand chalk paint. Can be mixed into just about any color and is Affordable. Go to a stand alone paint store that sells it. They also make a clear top coat that is great. More durable and easier than wax. I usually don't like to use chalk paint on surfaces that get a lot of use and washed down often, but their top coat us nice . for more durability use polyeureathane on table top over the chalk paint.

Do your prep. Wash down with TSP and sand off sheen before you paint. The paint will adhear better, especially on top.

**** Read Cathy’s.. On how to cover laminated cupboards... and any area related that chalk paint gets used for without knowing how to use it properly... Instructions ain’t what they use to be.

    Good Luck

MadameRa...Then PLEASE tell me how to do it the right way!

🔺I don’t respond twice, this is the first time as you obviously did not understand where to look~ which is what I said from a woman called Cathy, asking about her lamented cupboards.. as there is a lot of information written there , do please find it also......

in the meantime another idea that works is., AND it is always pending on the materials you are using chalk paint on; which is IF you have applied it properly, then wait 48 hours, then rub with a good rubbing cloth ,a HIGH GRADE white Organic coconut oil, and make sure you rub and rub and coat it up three times, let dry overnight, then the final stage is to use a NON YELLOWING reasonable price polyurethane; meaning the middle price... I won’t go into why simply as I haven’t the time to teach right now, just take good advice. Remember if ever unsure on what you are doing, then get off Google and try one of the many other search engines as your more likely to get the easiest truth; not often fabrications... There are many; the easiest for Americans I would say is Duck Duck Go. Com... doing your own research can also be rewarding.

Best of care and luck sincerely,
