How do I refinish/ paint/ stain these rattan chairs we found curbside?

Husband passed them on the road before trash pick up. He knew better than to leave them there and proudly brought them home for me to have my way with them; smart man.It has been decided to replace the over-sized raspberry rattan chairs I previously had in our very casual living room. They need a good coat of paint to cover their years of previous service. I have thought of several color ideas dark blue or green from the couch fabric but need to remember to keep it in something that might need to be loved by another down the road. They are structurally sound! They have been scrubbed down, stains lightened and well dried. I am ready to proceed but as always have trouble getting started and hoping to get lots of opinions from the Hometalk community.Color for frames? I'm thinking a dark espresso color. How to paint them? Spray paints have limited color selections. Do you think can I paint them using a whitewash technique (use that very loosely) repeating coats until I get the coverage I'm looking for? Then it will be choosing cushions on the seats.

As they arrived

Where they are going

What color for the frames??

Can a whitewash work?

These links will give help for re-doing the seats if they are getting weak. You can also use the webbing like that in lawn chairs.

If painting a roller with thick nap would help get paint into the crevices of the seat. A brush will have to be used on the frame following the direction of the weave. Start from back or bottom so that any drips can be fixed when you work on the front.

Chairs are in stable condition only had a couple loose "ends" that were easily glued down. NOTE: don't hold toothpicks with gorilla glue in your mouth to avoid lip contact.

Maybe I should EDIT the question targeting the repainting?

Benjamin Moore can put any if their colors in a spray can. I have it done all the time. Cost more than a can of spray paint. Plus you start with a quart of selected color to make it.

That I did not know. Am hoping to paint rather than spray but it does add options.

These are my rattan chairs and they last were painted with just regular old paint. Probably Benj. Moore. If those chairs were mine and fabric was my choice I would paint the chairs to match the dusty rose in the fabric. Also I would tone down the very dark edge on the coffee table, maybe make it match the wood on the sofas.

A dark gray blue but not quite as dark as navy. I like the natural color seats. Maybe your could just stain them to match the other furniture.
