How do I create stained glass windows for use as cabinet doors?

We would like to create some stain glass windows to put in place of kitchen cabinet doors. The cabinetis basically a big box over the kitchen sink with a shelf in the middle and sectioned off .4 sections ,no doors or curtains (which I suggested to my friend). She said she wanted to make stain glass windows. I said we can do that. Can I use moulding or trim to make the frame around the stained glass to make it a door? And if you have any suggestions on staining glass or the glass itself, it will be appreciated.

I think that will work ... If the door has inset panels just cut them out and replace with glass using moulding to hold it in place . To make your stained glass pick out a pattern you like , enlarge it to fit the glass . Go to a craft store like Michael's , there you can but puff paint in lead color and glass paint . Tape your design to the back of the glass . Use the lead puff paint for your lines , then when dry fill in with the colored glass paint . Post your project !!!!

    No existing doors, correct?

Simple molding won’t be enough to screw hinges into, hold the weight of the glass and prevent racking (which will cause the door to fail).

Instead of hinges I would buy the Mini Barn Door Hardware that’s really made for cabinet doors.

For a more authentic look, instead of puff paint, see if you can find leading on a roll. In the past, I purchased both brass-colored and actual lead in various widths in rolls. It is easy to apply, but take caution in cleaning your hands after handling lead products.

Look for Windows of that size, if not look for picture frames you can hinge on it. Amazon, walmart and home Depot sell window film, so many options. Just wet and apply.
