How to make window shutters
Hi Tina, here's a lovely video shared by one of our hometalkers that will show you how to make shutters - https://www.hometalk.com/43653576/the-30-minute-cedar-shutters
Shutters can be made from anything you like, as wide as you wish and as long as you need! I even made some from narrow trellis and added coloured chicken wire and painted the frames to match. Just a simple idea.......
Here’s how we did it - on a budget: https://www.frugalfamilytimes.com/2019/08/easy-diy-wood-shutters-for-under-10-pair.html?m=1
What type of shutters are you wanting - interior or exterior?
If you are wanting shutters that open and close, rather than being static, or just for display, then the hardest part will be making them so that they function properly, without hitting, banging, sagging, or falling off.
Diy moving shutters is not a fast or easy project by any means.
The beauty of purchasing pre-built custom shutters is that they are factory constructed level and squared off within a frame.
The entire frame is then mounted over top of your existing window.
