Are we talking Art Canvases? Do you want to re use them for artwork?
Depending on the process used to cover them - Print - Watercolour, Acrylic
Oil will depend the removal or cover up of the work!
If you want to use them as is in a different way, you could fix them together to form a screen to look like a window, using timber as a framework. and then hinging them.
You could join them together in an open square or rectangle and adapt as a lampshade. You could fix together to make a box using hinges and then either leave as is or paint the whole thing afresh, or cover in fabric or decoupage.
Well there are some ideas to be going on with.............
If you are talking about picture canvases, you can paint right over them, creating new art!

Hi ! You can paint right over them ! Try doing a mixed medium piece of artwork
over it ! You can build a frame the same size and attach it to the wall , putting a few shelves on it . Then using hinges attach the canvas to make hidden storage !
Use it as a totally new canvas and paint, decoupage, or stencil to create a unique saying on it.
