How can I add shelves to the exterior of a kitchen cabinet?
Looking to add 4 shelves to the exterior of two kitchen cabinets that are on either side of the window, which is over the kitchen sink. Two per side in vertical fashion. About 10 inches long by 3 inches deep. Something that's not too bulky. I'd like to place items there, which now reside on the counter tops making them look too cluttered. Thanks for the advise in advance.

It can be very difficult to find shelves in the size you need so you’ll need to make your own. Plywood has ugly edges so you’ll want to make them out of solid wood. Cut your four pieces of wood to the dimensions you need. Making a rounded edge is the best way to go because of the small dimensions of the shelves. You can use a compass, a soup or vegetable can, anything else you want to draw the curve. Cut the curve with a jigsaw. You can borrow one, or buy a cheap one (see below). Finish your shelves with paint, stain, or anything else you want. Buy shelf brackets and hang your new shelves.

These are not to suggest you copy then but just to show that you can make any kind of shelf to fit the available space. The narrow shelf is shallow and holds jars that just fit.
