You may want to check with a professional first to determine what kind of mold you have growing. It may need to be professionally cleaned or if you are lucky you can do it yourself. Did you get a Surveyors report when you bought it? Was it described as mold?
Mold is caused by lack of ventilation or rather not enough ventilation! Add more, and the problem should solve its self. or add dehumidifier or Boxes of cheap Damp collecting Crystals from the cheap store.. Wear a mask if brushing or washing off the area of mold as it can be bad for your health. When all clean, dry and fresh, Re-paint ceiling......
