Contact paper looks really nice.
Contact Paper or Kitchen Paper in the style of tiles. Stick on tile covers put straight onto the wall. There are lots and lots of thing you could do, depending on the construction of the wall itself! Almost anything as long as it is wipeable.
Got to Home Depot and ask the person in the kitchen counters what they recommend. They usually have samples and great ideas. If you like tin, I know they have some beautiful peel and stick tin and some ceramic.
