Hello Jo, here's one idea, use your colors and preference for the counter top material

    Hi there,

Kitchen Islands come in many styles and sizes to suit the kitchen it intended for. Start with a drawing of what you want and the size you want it to be. Once you've come up with a design. It should be easy enough to work out what you will need.

It could be for quickness, you need a hostess trolley or a kitchen base unit and work around them or even a kitchen table might give you the start you need.

Best wishes. YOU MIGHT EVEN FIND SOME FURTHER INSTRUCTION ON= Hometalk Kitchen Projects!!

Try searching for an old dish cabinet with the glass doors, remove the top, (save the glass to use on the sides for decoration. You can then use bottom half as your base unit. Since the older ones typically have drawers in the bottom, you can simply take out the drawers and cut away the framing for the drawers, or keep the drawers. You will only need legs at this point and the top for the island. You have the find the correct one to be able to accomplish this, but there are alot out there. Good luck.
