How do I add stuffing to a sagging 2-seater recliner?

How do I add stuffing to a 2 seater recliner that’s worn down to the framing in the arms and seat area. Opening it up / cutting the fabric at the seam, and adding stuffing, and then a “gimp?”, after,to close the area?Any thing is better than sitting on the wooden frames.... yes, I just add a big pillow/cushion for now!

    Hi Jo Ann,

I'm not sure what "gimp" is but you have the process figured out. Here's a tutorial that should help you. Just scroll down the article to find the directions that will help you. Wishing you the best.

Check your local library for books on upholstering. Ask at the reference desk if you need help finding the right one. Cut apart the old cover, but be sure to include the seam allowance, and use that for your pattern for new cushions. The library book will have information on various stuffings available and probably sources where you can find them. Rather than gimp, use a soft cording. The book will show you how to sew it into the cushion seam.

Hello. We had the same sad situation.

It was sucessfully resolved on my non recliner sofa.

Im not sure about a recliner feature tho......maybe with the recliner extended this method — approach could work.

We’ve rehabilitated our Natuzzi by flipping the couch over on its side removing the bottom thin black fabric (the dust cover) and addressing the interior structure. We ended up putting a piece of wood ( screwed in ) to support the inside the frame to help correct the seat from sagging, or if needed extra foam filling could be applied if needed. Reattach ( staple gun) black dust cover and enjoy the revitalized cushion with proper support.

Not sure if this is a viable solution for you, hope it helps.
