In my area the larger repair services charge $100 Just to show up. A portion is deducted from the bill if you choose to hire them. I have found decent mom and pop shops that are decent and honest by hopping onto Nextdoor.com and asking for a referral or flipping through the yellow pages.

    Hi Helena,

$70 isn't a lot these days. Some companies charge just to come to your home - probably because they have had problems with people not being home for their appointment. Sometimes that fee can be used toward the repair. Wishing you the best.

most all appliance repair folks charge a fee for coming out to look at appliances and usually if you have it fixed they will either discount the repair or take that fee off the repair -every state and area is different it is rare that you will get a repair estimate without a fee involved but before they come out ask them how they charge so you will know
