Hi Carla. I'm Cindy. Cut the tubes to be about 4 inches. Put a small piece of tape over one end. Place these in a disposable tin pan with lid (available at Dollar Store). Fill them with dirt and then put a couple seeds in each one. Put the clear lid on the pan and place it in a sunny window. Spritz water on them every other day. Sprouts will come up in a week or so. Once the plants get 3 or 4 inches tall, you can transfer them outside. Doing this saves you $$ because you don't have to buy annual plants for flower beds.

Cut into 3" lengths and fold/pinch one end so the sides close up. Tape shut. Batch the tubes into an old shoe box or plastic bin and fill with dirt. Then seeds. Water and place in the sun.Plant tubes with seedlings directly into ground after frost ends.

If you want to use them permanently or outdoors, the cardboard will not hold up. You could fill them with QuikCrete and use as stands for plant pots.
