How can I decorate a 16'x16' courtyard?

There are bushes on two sides, but really just a big square, would like an inviting New Orleans look, something that pulls everything together.

For a New Orleans courtyard look, think a variety of different sized pots with palms and other green plants. If you can swing it, add a fountain or some kind of water feature. Think about adding a small cafe table with a pair of chairs. I don't know what your courtyard hard surface is, brick is the traditional surface for New Orleans courtyards, but if you don't have brick, find a nice patterned outdoor rug to center the courtyard. I love a courtyard, I think yours will be wonderful.

I will start with a round table to mix and match the shape as the courtyard is square. Then have chairs around. Match the umbrella with the cushions. Buy pots and have them put them on one wall almost. 6 of them. The options are limitless. Let me know if you need any further help please.

    Good luck,

Black wrought iron always makes me think of New Orleans. They make patio furniture from aluminum, now that looks like wrought iron but, doesn't rust. A pretty round table, colorful flowers in clay pots, a colorful umbrella and cushions. I would also add a pretty bench for additional seating and a small fountain.

Take your time and search out things in scrolled metal like an arch. Random statues, potted flowers and garden beds around the perimeter. A very large round table will provide flow throughout and if possible, find an old outdoor fire place or build one from reclaimed brick. There is usually a fountain somewhere in the courtyard and shade. Lots of shade!

Pay attention to your growing zone and try to plant perennial flowers appropriate for your locale - it saves replacing annuals. Have fun! 😎đŸŒș
