How do I store my concrete in terra-cotta lawn statues for the winter and how will I paint them in the spring?

For repainting - I blew mine off with an air compressor to remove any debris, then I washed the entire thing and let it dry. I then painted it with spray paint with primer in in and it worked great.

Can you physically move them to a shed?

Concrete and terra cotta should be fine outside in the freeze-thaw conditions unless they’re cracked or other porous condition.

If they’ve been previously painted, then they should be painted with “like” paint. If that paint is in bad condition, then they may need to be stripped with paint stripper or at a minimum sanded outdoors, wearing PPE.

I would use an oil-based exterior house paint, with an alkyd primer, if starting over on painting.

My concrete angel is too heavy to move, so I just brush her off in the winter.

I've got fairies everywhere in my garden and tucked in my plants. It is the key to making things grow you know... When winter comes I have to pack them all up till spring comes again. I have a big stack of boxes that are all the same size. I start saving need paper in October to wrap them up with. The boxes have been broken down, so first I have to take the bottoms together again .. Having all the same kind of boxes makes stacking them one on top of the other a real space saver..
