The boxes are old wine crates, and I would somehow like to incorporate them into the project if possible?
Can you give me suggestions for using this space?

When I bought this place these cabinets were pink with plastic knobs. I painted them 3 years ago and so far it has held up great *the paint that is.Recently, somebody tried to open the cabinet door on the far left and pulled the hinges out of the cheap pressed wood Formica cabinet side. I decided since it couldn't be fixed and the fact that the door opened up to the right, that cabinet was really never used ** I couldn't reach it and I am 5'1"So I took both doors off. I have pretty colored dishes (to many at this point) that go perfectly with my color scheme, so here's my question. I would like to leave them off, and I thought of putting mirrors on the backs, or painting the inside, or even removing the two cabinets and installing shelves to give it the more open modern look. I would appreciate some interesting creative ideas from my DIY folks on Hometalk and I look forward to reading them all. Here is a picture of the way it is now.
I would take the cabinets out and use the wine crates as shelving. Add floating shelves for the dishes that don't fit in the crates. Your dishes are beautiful.
I would leave the cabinets in, maybe paint the interiors of them a bright glossy color and rearrange the items you have on top of the cabinets for greater decorative effect. I would remove the picture of someone (dear to you?) as think it inappropriate in a kitchen and I also think the Budweiser box does not add much to the scheme. I would shove the box in the right hand cupboard to the right and fill that space with a large item (pitcher? bowl?) I would remove the box from the left cupboard as it doesn't serve any real purpose even style wise. My own kitchen cupboards have no doors and the interiors are painted green, which works even with my mostly blue china. I know the floating shelf look is in now (a la Joanna Gaines) but really they generally do not hold enough, unless your kitchen is very large with other storage space. My kitchen is very small so I have shelves over its two windows. It is such fun to do display/decorative styling in a house that I wish you great enjoyment in doing yours.
Since this appears to be in the kitchen. We remember that the air in the kitchen contains a lot of grease-laden vapors – like when cooking hamburgers or bacon.
Those hidden vapors are in the air, whether or not we can see them.
How important is this to you, in terms of monthly maintenance?
Yes, sure, you can put mirror tiles, from the dollar store, in the back of the cabinets.
Just un-Mount the mirrors & use double stick tape on the wall.
Lifestyles Homes has a good point about the practicality of open shelving or floating shelving in a kitchen. The whole concept of open shelving is supposed to be about displaying selected dishes that are particularly attractive; not as an everyday storage scheme, or an ersatz pantry for foodstuffs.
Although open shelving is a popular decor right now, it is yet to be seen how many folks revert back to doors on kitchen cupboards because the maintenance is lower.
I was watching a movie and the back of this bookcase really caught my eye and I can’t wait to use the idea. I think something like this would look awesome and there are a ton of furniture stencils out there to choose from.
Am not a fan of open shelving in kitchens because they are dust and grease collectors. I'd take the whole lot out to visually expand your space. Then I'd take a few of my fav plates, and hang them in an attractive display.
