    Hi Barbara,

I don't know how large your pieces are, but I read that putting them in a crock pot with water, vinegar and dishwashing detergent would help. I recently tried that. The vinegar turned a lot of the rust black, but I was then able to get almost everything off with 0000 steel wool. If your pieces are too large for a crock pot, how about a plastic outdoor tub or even your tub in the house? Inside, I'd protect the bottom of the tub with some old towels. There are a lot of rust removers that you can purchase in the stores, I just didn't want to use chemicals so I tried this method. Once I got off the actual rust, I primed the parts and used Rustoleum to paint them. Wishing you the best.
