As in hung from the ceiling?

Unless your ceiling joists are the floor joists for the floor above that ceiling, the ceiling joists will not hold the weight of the bed and the persons in it.

If it’s an attic space and you want to check what size the ceiling joists are and let me know the span of the ceiling joists, I can use a Spans Table for Floor Joists and tell you what size & spacing the ceiling joists would have to be to hold the kinetic load.

Off the top of my head: 2x4’s are out of the question.

2x6’s would have to be very close spacing and short spans.

You need to find ceiling joists using a stud finder. Drill pilot holes, add heavy duty eye bolts, attach rope to the eye bolts, and hang the bed from the ropes.

We made a hanging bed in a loft we owned many years ago. Yes, we were careful to hang it from the beams directly ( there was no ceiling at the time). But we did not use rope, we used chains.
