Does it have open framing that you could attach insulation to? A picture or two would be helpful.

Everywhere you can insulate is always good , you just got to be able to access it.

I have a friend who saved the foam insulating packing from things she had purchased and used then to line under the floors and also on the walls of a closet.

The short answer is: unless you have access to under the existing floor, no, you won't be able to insulate there. The floor joists will prevent you from getting any decent insulation under the floor. However, you can get those interlocking floor mats and put them on top of the floor. They will do a really good job keeping out the cold. The thicker they are, the more insulative. If you need a hard surface to work on - some plywood over them will do the trick. As for the walls and loft/ceiling, most home centers sell rolls of insulation (something that looks like quilted aluminum foil). It does an excellent job. A few staples to tack it in place - and there you go.
