How can I update a kitchen vent hood?

Would like to put date my inlaws kitchen vent hood. It's a an ugly mustard gold.

Hi Keri, if its metal you can take it down and spray paint it with one of the metal spray paints they make now. Some of them are really neat, they come in bronze, chrome etc.

You can paint with appliance paint. Clean well first to remove all build up. I would remove it to do the painting.
You can also use high heat automotive paint. If you're going with this paint, you will need a lot of ventilation while painting.
You could cover every thing and then spray it
