real coke, not generic has a fare amount of acid in its make up, its the mild acid that does the cleaning of lime scale etc. you do need to let the cola sit a bit then scrub.
From everything I've seen you pour it into the bowl and maybe swish it around and let it sit for a while. Then scrub and flush.
Just as above has stated, use brand Coca-Cola. If you will lower your bowl level it will be more effective. Let sit and it will remove scale or soften so it can be easily scrubbed and removed.
Chemist here! We have a post about cleaning with coca-cola. It is important to read this tips. We have a section on cleaning a toilet too: https://chemistrycachet.com/does-cleaning-with-coke-actually-work/
Hello. In my situation both the Coke and Tang - koolaid internet recommendations did not work for my toilet hard water stains/ ring.
Its a frustrating situation, then I discovered the answer and Ive been smiling since!
My solution was the pumice stick. This is excellent way to remove stains and rings in the toilet. When commercial toilet cleaners fail -this is my go to. Great for thick crusted calcium mineral build up that the toilet waterbowl collcts.
They are found at my local Walmart for less than two dollars -good for multiple uses.
Be sure to follow the use instructions, soaking the pumice stone in water for a few minutes. While the stone is soaking, grab your toilet brush and splash water up around the ring. Note: It’s very important to keep both the stone and the surface wet while cleaning to avoid scratching your porcelain.
