  • You can use chalk paint, but it does make the furniture feel hard.

You can get fabric paint at Micheals. They even have spray fabric paint. But what I would do is buy ANY COLOR latex paint and add a fabric medium into it. Try liquitex fabric medium or ceramcoat textile medium. Just google these 2 products and follow the directions on the bottle to mix with paint. I haven't done this yet so I don't have one of my own posts for you but I have thought about doing it myself and I would use these products. I love being able to use my own color especially when it comes to home decor. Also too, I heard you are supposed to sand lightly in between each coat of paint so it isn't hard. good luck!

I have done this with incredible results.

wash furniture down with warm water with fabric softener, (any cheap fabric softener will do). let dry overnight.

use latex paint with fabric medium. mix. 4 cups paint to 1 bottle of medium.

use roller and paint brush to apply paint. let dry overnight.

lightly sand with very fine sandpaper or sandpaper block from Dollar store.

    wipe off.

paint 2nd coat. let dry. if you happy with color now for important final touch......... use an ironing cloth and a medium hot iron and iron your furniture fabric that you painted. do this gently, let settle,

paint with soften as you iron.

I had to give my chairs 3 ironings, because I was being very careful...

    better safe than sorry.

my neighbors and family could not believe I did actually paint them, they kept rubbing hands over the chairs and exclaiming how soft the fabric was and loved the color.

hardest thing to do was the taping of the wood around the fabric...

good luck. and hope your fabric turns out as good as mine did (even with toddler grandchildren climbing all over the chairs.)
