I add water to the pan after I use it and. If it's greasy, I add a squirt of dish detergent. The heated pan helps m by practically cleaning itself. A scrubby or brush helps remove any residue.
If your pans have bits of food stuck on them, fill them with water and let them soak for at least an hour. Dump the water out and repeat if necessary. Then you should be able to clean them with warm water and dish soap. You can get better results if you scrub them with a scrubbie or brush.
The ability to clean pans rests, primarily on what material(s) are stuck to them. Cleaning becomes much easier if you know
the nature of the substance you wish to remove: organic, ionic, etc. This also pretty well determines whether you should attempt (expense, time, effort...) to
clean the item, or just throw it away and start over with a new one.
Start with the easiest and cheapest (soap and water) and sequentially graduate to
other tried and true methods such as steel wool, chemicals specific to the composition
of the material you wish to remove, etc. Do
your due diligence, and make a decision based on what you discover.
In my experience, and if all else fails, steel wool in combination with Comet will usually get you where you want to be. The finish of the item being cleaned may suffer, but that’s a decision you must make.
