How do I convert a trunk into a coffee table?
I have 3 nice trunks that my brother made for me. I would love to finda what to use 1 or all 3 in my living room.

I've heard staining is a good technique for updating floors. So how do I stain my wood floor?
Depending on size: coffee table (put glass piece atop) -- or side table (if top is uneven, cover with wood to make a tabletop) -- or even a tv stand.
Sounds more like your brother made you a chest, rather than a "trunk" which has specific hardware on it. Either way it would depend on space or need in your living room. We have a large chest in our living room (antique) and a smaller one in our sitting room. L.R. chest is used for a side table/storage. The smaller one we use as a coffee table/display. We just put casters on this to make it more movable. Chests are great for storage and as a table top.
I've made several, here is one from my DIY blog Homeroad.net https://www.homeroad.net/2014/05/vintage-book-page-trunk.html
