Aviator. There are lots of DIY projects and decals and stuff online. Hang vintage airplanes from the ceiling, redo the dresser to look like a flight locker, etc. Also, Trains are good - make a train track on the wall in lieu of a headboard, and make a train crossing sign with hooks to hang clothes, a vintage lantern lamp by the bed, etc. For both, avoid any cartoony images to keep it from looking like a child's room. For a HP fan, add a "Platform 9 3/4" sign to a faux brick "wall" on the door. Check out pinterest for loads more ideas. I got these looking for bedroom ideas for my grandsons.

  • Find out his interest and decorate around that theme. E.g. fortnight, harry potter

  • Don't ask us, ask him! This is a project you can do together. Teaches planning, budgeting and DIY. And he will learn new skills. Plus if he gets a little bit of a voice in the decor, they are more apt to keep the room neater and cleaner and show off his projects to his friends. Google and Pinterest have thousands of ideas. What are his interests? Build the room around that.
