Go to your local nursery for best advice for your area and region. I find it takes quite awhile for going covers to fill in. Expect a lot of weed pulling. I think your brick looks wonderful.

I would highly suggest contacting your cooperative extension. These offices are manned by volunteer master gardeners on site there waiting to answer the communities questions that know your local situation quite well.

Master gardeners are required to volunteer back designated hours ( plus continuing education) each year to maintain MG certification -this community outreach and education is their goal.

With ground foliage covering this area instead of hardscape materials, such as concrete or brick, there will be the dilemma of how to keep the dirty water from draining into the pool after watering the plants.

'Just a thought that ground cover might not be very practical.
