I just got my oak table refinished but think I’d like the look of epoxy better. Can I put epoxy over polyurethane?
I did a little research, and apparently you can. The article I read recommends sanding the poly first. Other articles recommended applying epoxy to bare wood.
It would have to be an oil-based polyurethane.
No reason why you can't. Epoxy is poured over different substrates. Use a green kitchen scrubby or 220 grit sandpaper on the poly then pour the epoxy.
Epoxy can be hard to work with, you can read about the issues I had with it here: https://thehoneycombhome.com/how-to-paint-kitchen-countertops/
