Are you talking about balling chicken wire, stringing lights on them and then installing them into outside lawns and trees?
My husband has made a couple of these which we hang in our trees in front of the house. In the summer we hang them in our grape arbor but unlit. I just checked out the balls made in link from Nan W. which are of chicken wire. My husband uses a heavy wire which is shaped into circles and he wraps lights around the wire. We have some professionally done that our hung in Portland (Maine) each year . . . they are really beautiful

I used clear Christmas lights in ping pong balls.
Cut an X and insert them.
