How do you add black accent to painted cabinet doors?

We've made new cabinet doors with a slat paneled effect. I'll be painting them red and want to add a black accent in the grooves. What's the best way to achieve that look??

Joanne: ...especially since it's merely in a groove, you could use a paint pen and a steady hand!

  • Or how about a dry brush technique?

Use a black stain and wipe off. Hopefully you ate using oil based paints.

Use the black paint first, make sure you paint only the areas you want black. Let the paint dry...once dry, lightly sand off any areas that you painted in error. Then paint the areas you want red.

Hi if you paint between the slats with black first then use a roller to paint the red , roll it lightly and don't press or push hard . Do 2 light coats and after rolling it each time , use a q tip and run it down the slat area to take off and of the red paint .
